Body Lift in Houston

Body Lift HoustonA body lift is a cosmetic surgery procedure performed at the ACPS Clear Lake office. This body contouring procedure is perfect for getting rid of loose skin and small pockets of excess fat following major weight loss. If you want a tighter and more defined figure, a Houston body lift may be the perfect choice for you.

What Is a Body Lift?

A body lift is actually a package of cosmetic body-contouring procedures that is designed to provide the recipient with a comprehensive procedure for restoring the tight and toned appearance of their overall figure. A body lift includes procedures like a buttocks lift, thigh lift, and tummy tuck; these address the most prominent features of the lower body. A body lift can transform your body from its current state to one that you feel proud of.

The goal of the procedure is to remove excess subcutaneous fat and skin around the abdomen, upper thighs, and buttocks in order to create a more attractive body shape with increased muscle definition and enhanced body contours. It is generally performed after massive weight loss because of the effects that rapid changes in body weight have on the skin and body.

Body Lift Considerations

The appearance of areas like your thighs and abdomen are heavily dependent upon the appearance, strength, and texture of your skin. Changes in your body weight are one cause of sagging skin and tissue, but there are other genetic and environmental factors that can cause unwanted changes in the skin.

The normal aging process slowly diminishes the skin’s supply and production of essential proteins like collagen and elastin, two critical components for tight and healthy skin that can retain its shape and appeal. Gravity is constantly pulling your skin downward, which can create unsightly folds, wrinkles, and lines, as well as noticeable sagging.

Other factors, like pregnancy, contribute to skin laxity and poor tone due to the significant changes the body must undergo and the amount of strain placed on the skin and areas like the abdomen.

Seeing the outcome of course. It’s exactly what I wanted. There wasn’t a time when I didn’t know what was going on, always given a full explanation for the procedure and aftercare. Go to Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth if you want the best look, care, and a seamless experience.

Good Candidates for a Body Lift

In general, Houston men and women who are in good health and within normal weight for their height are good candidates for the body lift procedure. A body lift is not a weight-loss procedure. Individuals who are looking to significantly reduce their body fat will not attain the results they desire with a body lift. Individuals who have reached or nearly reached their ideal weight, on the other hand, can benefit from a body lift to reduce excess fatty tissue and sagging skin that a healthy diet and regular exercise have been unable to effectively reduce.

After you’ve done all the hard work it takes to lose a significant amount of weight, if your skin is still loose and sagging, it makes it impossible for you to appreciate your results and for others to notice the immense amount of handwork and dedication you have put into attaining a healthier body weight. Unfortunately, you can’t change your skin’s elasticity, but a body lift can change and enhance the appearance of your skin and body and can be the ideal solution to your aesthetic body issues.

What to Expect During Your Body Lift Consultation

During your body lift consultation at the ACPS Clear Lake, a thorough evaluation of your current health and your medical history will be performed. Through this, we can determine if there are any potential complications that may arise and can ensure that you are mentally and physically prepared to undergo the procedure.

Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will thoroughly examine your area(s) of concern and will listen intently to you as you describe what your aesthetic goals are for the procedure. Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will also provide you with the critical information you need to know to confirm whether a body lift is the correct procedure for you. Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will review all of your options with you so you can be certain that you are making an informed choice for your cosmetic procedure.

Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will discuss the anticipated anesthesia, potential risks, and your expected recovery so that you have all the information necessary to mentally and physically prepare for the procedure and your recovery process. The ACPS Clear Lake office is located in Webster, TX, convenient to Houston, Galveston, Clear Lake, and Pearland.

Assuming your need for a body lift is due to massive weight loss, Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will need to confirm that you are healthy enough for such a procedure, as this is a major surgery. Obesity and the medical conditions that are associated with it are known to significantly increase the risk of complications during the procedure and during your recovery period. Diabetes, high blood pressure, and other disorders associated with obesity can affect your ability to safely undergo a body lift. Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will be in direct contact with your primary physician to confirm that you are healthy enough for a body lift.

Is a Body Lift the Only Procedure I Will Need?

Houston patients in need of this procedure may also need additional procedures on other areas of the body not covered by a body lift. This can include areas such as the upper arms, neck, face, and breasts. In these instances, surgical procedures, such as an arm lift or breast lift, can be performed once you have recovered from your body lift procedure and are physically capable enough to safely undergo additional treatments.

Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will discuss the other procedures you may need with you during your body lift consultation in Houston and will also contact your primary physician regarding the procedures to ensure there are no potential complications. It’s important to understand that these procedures cannot be performed at the same time due to the immense amount of stress the procedures place on the body. Once all of the procedures have been completed and you have properly healed, you will see a major improvement in the appearance of your individual features and your body as a whole.

How a Body Lift Is Performed

All body lift procedures are performed in an office-based accredited operating suite in Houston under general anesthesia. Once general anesthesia has been instituted, Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will make incisions at the hip level so that the resulting scars are in the bikini/underwear line and less visible after healing. A lower body lift is essentially a buttock lift plus thigh lift combined with a tummy tuck and careful liposuction. Details on those procedures can be viewed through the links above.

After the procedure is completed, soft dressings will be placed, as well as a compressive dressing and various drains to remove fluid that will otherwise build up in the tissues and inhibit healing.

What to Expect After a Body Lift Procedure

Most patients experience significant discomfort with a body lift, and for this reason, Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will give you prescriptions for pain medication and antibiotics at your final preop appointment, so that you have them at home. Most of our Houston body lift patients find that their discomfort dramatically lessens over the course of about a week. After your body lift, you will wear the compression garment 24 hours a day until Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth inform you that you can stop wearing it. Drains will be removed in one of your earlier post-op visits with Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth; the timing will be based on diminution of fluid collection. You should plan to take two weeks from work and social engagements, and anticipate low-impact activities for about four weeks, with a return to unrestricted activities by week six. Each of us heals at our own rate, of course, so please understand that these are estimates. Dr. Hustak and Dr. Wentworth will see you every week for the first month.

Can a Body Lift Be Used for Weight Loss?

A body lift is not a method of rapid weight loss but is instead specifically performed to correct sagging areas of the body. It is often performed after rapid weight loss has occurred.

Which Procedures Can Be Used in a Body Lift?

A body lift can include the following procedures: a buttocks lift, a thigh lift, a tummy tuck, and liposuction. The procedures are sometimes performed during the course of a single surgical session. In some cases, more than one session may be necessary.

What Is a Buttocks Lift?

A buttocks lift is performed to contour and reshape a sagging backside, creating greater definition. It is not meant to augment the size of buttocks.

What Is a Thigh Lift?

A thigh lift is a surgical procedure performed to improve and tighten the thighs. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the problem area and tightening of the underlying tissue.

What Is a Tummy Tuck?

A tummy tuck, sometimes referred to as an abdominoplasty, is a procedure for the rejuvenation of the abdomen. This includes tightening loose skin and loose abdominal muscles, removing excess fat, and removing stretch marks.

What Is Liposuction?

Liposuction is a minimally invasive surgical method of fat reduction and contouring that is often included in a body lift. It can be performed on a number of regions, including the abdomen, hips, buttocks, thighs, love handles, knees, and upper arms. Here, fat deposits are physically removed from the problem areas of the person’s body using a cannula and suction device.
